1 kg Straw pellets develops almost 5 KW/KG which is equivalent to:
2.07 kg timber;
1.70 kg beech;
0.65 kg coal;
½ m³ natural
lower calorific value by 5-10% in comparison to wood pellets but at a much lower price.
it is a solid fuel, ecologic, from a regenerative and sustainable source used for producing heat and energy, 100% vegetable fiber;
pellets are considered substitutes of natural gas, but are cheaper by 20-25%, they present no explosion risk and they are used with the same comfort;
they bring an added convenience because central heating unit has a hopper where pellets are placed every few days, sometimes even weekly;
they are neutral in terms of carbon emissions. When burned they produce no greenhouse effect;
burn almost without smoke emission;
upon burning the generated dust is alkaline;
they present a low level of heavy metals contaminations, and the sulphurs are practically non-existent;
in the last years more central heating systems on pellets have been developed, with a very high heating efficiency of almost 95-99%;
a low content of dust in the pellet bags shows good compaction and increased resistance to moisture - class A pellets.
If you already use a pellet heating system, ask the manufacturer if they have the necessary strainer for burning straw pellets.
